Jack was a 2-time water polo All-American and NCAA MVP while at Stanford University, and the alternate goalie on the 2006 Olympic Team. While at Stanford, he wrote an honors thesis entitled, “The Psychosocial Aspects of Goalkeeping” and the “Bowen Goalie Camp” has established itself as the premire goalkeeper training in the country over the past 17 years.
Jack has coached water polo at Menlo School for the past 17 years, winning the league championship 15 years and the section championship 5 times. In 2011 he was named by the Positive Coaching Alliance as a National Award Winner and now serves as the chair of the National Coaches Council for PCA as well as a board member of the Institute of Sports Law & Ethics at UOP where he writes a blog on issues in sports. In addition, he was the 2016 USA Water Polo Distinguished Coaching Award winner as well as the 2017 CIF Model Coach award recipient.
Jack graduated from Stanford with Honors in Human Biology and earned a masters in philosophy with an emphasis in Sport Ethics. He has published four books, including If You Can Read This: The Philosophy of Bumper Stickers, the philosophical novel The Dream Weaver, and a college-level philosophy textbook. His most recent book, Sports, Ethics and Leadership, comes out July 2017. He teaches philosophy at Menlo School where he also serves as the chair of college sports recruiting.
