Re: Likelihood of winter season?

I was cautiously optimistic about having a winter season a month or so ago. Now I don't see how it can happen. Here's the chart for where we are as of today in California. A chart that's distressing on innumerable levels: CA.Covid.Nov.png Given both the trend and the status quo, I don't see how we r...

Re: Winter Season 2021

The Ivy League has canceled winter sports and announced that fall sports will not be played in the spring. This means the Ivy League will not play men's or women's water polo during the 2020-21 academic year. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/30305855/ivy-league-cancels-winter-sports-s...

Re: Cal State High School Water Polo Games (December 5-6, 2020)

It’ll be fascinating to see which teams elect to come. Only 8 teams per division, and only two divisions per gender (HS Varsity and HS JV). A month away. Who knew they’d actually habpve water polo games (allegedly) in early December?! Gives one hope for the Winter season, perhaps. *Fingers crossed*

Re: USWP Failed US All.

Again, you should at minimum read the publicly available news articles on this case before commenting. And stop trying to provoke emotional responses in other people with your attitude. It gets old. Hojreh was not charged with sleeping with anyone. He was charged with sexual assault while instructi...

Re: Class of 2021 Commits

This is very common. Take a look at the rosters, especially of certain private schools. Given their comparably small rosters, they have a large % from a single source: Brown <-- Menlo School (usually 3,4) Stanford <-- Sacred Heart (3 from 2019 class alone) Harvard <-- Sacred Heart (would be 4 but T...

Re: likelihood of 2020 fall HS season?

New story i stumbled onto. only 6% of the deaths have no contributing factors. so that brings the death rate to .00003 for healthy people. this should be big news!!!! Protect those with the pre-conditions and let the rest of us get on with our lives. It’s understandable that you’d be confused by th...

Re: Likelihood of winter season?

San Diego "winter" water polo season dates announced. Boys and girls dates the same: Practices start Dec. 12; first scrimmages Dec. 18; first games (28 total allowed) Dec. 19; regular season ends Feb. 20; CIF Playoffs Feb. 23-March 10 (finals March 12/13); So Cal Regionals March 15-20. htt...

Re: likelihood of 2020 fall HS season?

You’re using old data, Mark, from the BLS’s 2009 NCS, back when matching was less uniform and traditional pensions more prevalent. “The average employer 401(k) match reached 4.7% this year, according to Fidelity, which manages more than 30 million retirement accounts. . . . Prior to 2011, the averag...

Re: likelihood of 2020 fall HS season?

The debate about teacher salaries and pensions is another one of those examples where the truth (perhaps not surprisingly) is somewhere in the middle. Much depends on your assumptions (e.g., whether you're comparing salaries of advanced degree recipients or just people in general, etc.). To take jus...

Re: CIFSS Playoff Divisions

Are the rules for practice different in San Diego County? I know my son can’t handle a ball with another player and they have basically been just doing conditioning in OC when they can get water time. However, I have seen recent videos of kids in SD passing and shooting together. If the rules are d...

Re: 2020 Season Likelihood

San Diego polo is the same as EBWPDad’s report; pools just opening, 12 kids in the pool at a time, no passing yet, mostly just getting the kids back in the water and halfway in shape after the huge break.

Re: 2020 Season Likelihood

Scott Galloway teaches at the New York University Stern School of Business. I strongly doubt that he gets paid 7K for a course :) Galloway is an adjunct professor, not a full-time or tenured (or tenure-track) faculty member. Seven grand a class is indeed about what those people get paid in NYC (whi...

I'm very excited to learn that there are allegedly numerous options to "become an age group coach who works on deck no more than 2 hours a day plus may [sic] 10-12 hours on select weekends and make between $35,000 - $60,000 a year." Please post those job opportunities on the jobs posting b...
