Re: Does the Big 10 make a water polo conference with USC And UCLA coming in?
The Pac-12 (in one year) will only have 4 schools - 4 schools doesn't make a conference (need 6 minimum) so Stan & Cal .... **Can go independent (WP stays MPSF in this scenario) **Can go to the Big10 - not likely (would cause WP conference re-shuffling) **Can go to the Big12 - dead **Can go to t...

Re: Does the Big 10 make a water polo conference with USC And UCLA coming in?
Both will likely have to cut certain sports. Agree - I think Stanford has money to burn, and they have some of the most bougie sports (sailing, fencing, squash) that cater to the "art collector" crowd so they can survive without TV money ... Cal however is in a much more precarious spot, ...

Re: Does the Big 10 make a water polo conference with USC And UCLA coming in?
Colorado to the Big12 puts the Pac12 at 9 schools Arizona and ASU to the Big12 (looks likely) will kill the Pac12 Where Stanford and Cal land could set about WWP conference realignment - remember that as soon as a conference gets 6 members, they're obligated to organize under their own banner. Curre...

Yes, I would expect the players/families to have to pay a portion / fundraise

Re: Coaching Carousel 2023
Worth noting UC Davis has an opening for an Assistant coach - responsible for both Men and Women, Full-time work, pays $27,200/year - translates to $13.07/hour which is LESS THAN Calif min wage of $15.50/hour.

Re: Why does UCLA get to represent USA at the WUG?
My understanding is USAWP doesn't really "care" about this tournament, so they ask if any of the colleges "want" it with the assumption that the school/team pays for it and only take American players. Hence, why the heavy foreign schools don't send teams. If no school takes the o...

Re: 2023 Junior Olympics
Just FYI, Teams can request to move up/down between the Championship and Classic division, and so long as there is a matching request (you want to move up, someone else has to want to move down) they will swap spots. I agree - less Champ spots for the less competitive zones. Another way to consider ...

Yes, its fine. Braces are allowed so long as there is no metal supports or hard surface that could injure another player

Re: USC Women’s Head Coach
ok 5150wpdad - I need you to be my assistant coach, It pays $100k/year, but I can only pay you $50k. The rest of the salary will come via a contracting arrangement from a "charity" in Newport Beach. They pay in cash and sometimes there's blood or white powder on the money. Don't ask questi...

Re: USC Women’s Head Coach
Kudos to USC for keeping it in house. And so the cycle is complete. The Varsity Blues indictment stated there were 2 other un-named USC Aquatics staff members besides Jovan that were taking money from the fraudulent Key Foundation. USC Head Coach fired in biggest corruption scandal EVER in college ...

Re: Stanford 2023 Incoming Class
ABSOLUTELY foreign players are getting athletic scholarships. Foreign players can't get pell grants and loans are difficult if not impossible. College tuition in Serbia is $2000 - $5000/yr so no one is going to relocate AND take on debt AND pay 10x-20x what they were expecting. Some posters say we n...

Re: 2023 Season
All-Americans are rolling out - Congrats to the players that earned the spot. Would like to see it more regulated with less horse-trading, sounds like it's been cleaned up a bit since Marist had 6 last year, but it's still amiss. Northridge and Indiana were equally talented (2 each) Marist has just ...

Re: 2023 JO Quals Schedules
The teams at the bottom of the Championship division (1-48) can "opt-out" of the Champ bracket to instead play in the Challenge bracket (49-??). I think North Irvine from SoPac and a few others did that last year at 18u girls. The idea is for weaker teams (from Michigan for example) to hav...

Re: 2023 JO Quals Schedules
What surprised me a lot, and it's mostly on the girls side. You take a look at the allocations for the JOs, in the 14U, 16U and 18U girls and a zone like the Central zone, has as many or more, as the Sopac zone, and by the same token, the Pacific Zone has the most, by a good amount of allocations (...

Re: 2023 JO Quals Schedules
the 14u Girls have a 9 team bracket and are playing it out over 4 days - that has to be the dumbest bracket I've ever seen.
