Group B looks like a very tough bracket with 3 of the top teams in the world.

Johnny Hooper?! Wow, that guy goes from nothing in ODP...to back-to-back "World's". Let's hope he gets some rest and the other guys skip JO's...if they want to compete over there.

A not small problem for the USA men at the moment is that the average age of the Jr National team is probably 18...while for the senior team playing right now...it is 21.

I see a lot of the usual suspects and one random guy from Ohio. Is this guy any good?

Nick Bisconti? Sam Murphy over Sam Krutonog? Does anyone know the backstory for these selections?

from Ohio, if you are talking about Schofield, he is a strong, big, and excellent center prospect playing at Bucknell. Short answer...have watched him for a whole weekend and I think he's the real deal.

Both are excellent goalies. Probably the best two rising seniors playing this position with all due respect to younger Creed and others. I am not sure that there is a "backstory".

Murphy is very good and will probably be recruited by a "Big 4" school, but I wouldn't put him in Krutonog's class. I'd rate Murphy in the same class as Creed, Roland, and one or two other goalies from the Class of 2018.

After I raised my question, several of our knowledgeable colleagues told me that Krutonog and the other top HW players, like the top MD players, are no longer participating in the ODP. That's probably the answer to my question. The movement away from the ODP is accelerating.

I prefer longer more flexible goalies. I think at a top 4 school length, agility, quickness, flexibility is required and more attention needs to focus on developing this at a much earlier age (12-14). With all of Murphy's great skills, I think his body frame is not what the top 4/National team are looking for. I think all WP players need to work on flexibility and coaching needs to incorporate much more Yoga and Pilates.

I like to hear Jeff ur "new" top 10 list for S. Cal. I think Newport, should climb up having gotten 5th place with their HS team, less one Sr. Cole Brosnan. Curious to how Santa Margherita with 4 top 4 recruits is not challenging the top 6 S. Cal teams, with Newport not having one signed player in the class of 2018 and don't see it happening until after the season. We are only 4 months away from the end of the 2017 HS season.

I'd heard Murphy has or would be committing to Princeton. As for Krutonog, he did not participate in ODP this year. His younger brother did though; also a goalie.
