TYR gear a big disappointment

Postby veritas137 » Thu Mar 06, 2014 2:58 am

Anyone else disappointed with the TYR gear for the 2013-2014 ODP team? Last year's team had some great looking ODP specific gear while this year it's a bunch of off the shelf TYR stuff with a small ODP iron on patch. I know the program is about the coaching and improving our athletes but we are required to purchase items if they are selected to a team and it does not feel like I am getting my money's worth.

Yes, i have heard that the gear are sub par quality, most specifically the mens suit, and the fit is not good. big difference compared to Turbo suits. I also heard that the customer service is very very poor.

That deal was done for money reasons only. I heard in the 200k range for the deal through 2016.
TYR makes great stuff for TRI and Swim

Waterpolo not really.
Cant make Custom ( all items are made in CHina)
Cant make Caps
Nice outer wear
Their swim suits are made for Swim not Polo.
Because TYR is so large ( and in NY, Huntington Beach office does not Handle Water polo here in a large scale) they are completely lost with POLO and cant give good Customer Service for the Consumer.

Maybe if Turbo, Truwest or ZUMO drops 200k they will go Back to quality stuff.

Turbo as pricey as it its, is good stuff. Same with the other Brands.

None of those companies is big enough to drop $200K into the USA Water Polo coffers.

We received our gear. It's fine. My son likes all the gear.

We also received the gear and it IS lesser quality. We already sent the jacket back because the seams we pulling apart.

We were disappointed with the iron on patch too. The jacket from last year seemed higher quality because of the embroidery. The "branding" of the ODP atheletes is minimal this year. . . Wearing the jacket around campus this year doesn't promote the sport (or athlete) the way it did last year with the big ODP on the back. Although, it would be better to have the USA Water polo "patch" on the back for everyone to see.

And, how about those goggles?
