Found this on the Water Polo Canada Website http://www.waterpolo.ca/ which I found very helpful.
National Teams Overview http://www.albertawaterpolo.ca/clientup ... 10-Eng.doc

Here is part of the National Teams Overview but read the word document.
The charts do not display properly when copied so go check out the word document.
This makes things much clearer to me now. The charts are great!
Maybe the mod can post the charts.

Men’s and Women’s
National Team Program Overview
2010 and beyond!

The purpose of this letter is to explain the vision, goals, plans and age groups for the future Men’s and Women’s National Water Polo Team programs.
We appreciate your patience as we awaited the official confirmation from FINA on the age groups. Water Polo Canada just recently received official confirmation of the age groups and categories going forward from 2010.
Please review the spread sheet below which will explain what and when each major FINA or UANA (Continental qualification) event will occur.
FINA has announced that, as of 2011, FINA will organize World Championships for two (2) different categories/age groups (18U and 20U). 18U category will be held in even years (2012, 2014,…) and 20U category in odd years ( 2011, 2013,….).
In the year prior to the World Championships, Continental Championships (Pan Am Games) will be organized by UANA (the Continental body) which will act as Qualification Tournaments for the FINA (World Championship) Events
Please note that the Senior categories remain unchanged.

I am extremely proud to be a part of ODP. I am a proud member of USWP for 25 years. In every industry, sport, program there are problems. I'm not afraid of it and anyone who knows me knows I will attack them head on. I believe in this program and the direction it's moving. I love what I do. Parents, coaches, and athletes are working hard across the country in our sport and I'm inspired by it. No one has any idea how hard we are all working to make ODP the most professional program possible. It's an enormous undertaking and I'm very happy to be a part of it. I'm glad to try and answer questions and clarify things related to ODP on the message board, and I love to have dialogue, but as Im the only person who has made my name known on this thread, I won't continue to respond if insults start getting thrown. Be critical of the program, parts of it have not worked and despite everyones dismay at change, change is going to occur. I have enjoyed the dialogue on the board. There are plenty of people I trust telling me to quit responding. As long as it's productive, I'll continue.

I can't address the age groups any more. I've tried to reassure everyone that the athletes will be seen and evaluated, whether they are in ODP or not. Look at the roster for the Volvo Cup. Our Olympic team was not in full attendance as many athletes couldn't get out of their pro contracts to come back for it. Youth and junior players around the world spend majority of their time training in their clubs, they are only training together in the summer on a regular basis. Take in to consideration the size of the countries who do this.

Regarding checkbooks comments at the bottom, it's quite timely that you mention these things. For phase 3 there will be standards set for each age group. We discussed this at the Summit. Regarding background checks, USWP has already started this process. The process of hiring coaches is posted on USWP. Part of my job, which didn't exist in Phase 1, is to interview and hire coaches and to work with the coaches we currently have. For the most part the coaches are doing a great job. Those who are not will be evaluated. A big part of ODP is coaches development. New coaches are welcome and will be trained appropriately. There are other improvements slated for Phase 3. I look forward to sharing them when the time is right.

The chart above is great. I went to the link, but I didn't see this chart. This would be a good thing to post at USWP. Thank you.

I cannot get the link to work either and cannot find it on albertawaterpolo.ca.

The message board will not take charts or tables, unfortunately!

If I find it, I will see if we can get it on the ODP webpage.
