USA Water Polo Website, Quoting Youth Head Coach Brett Ormsby wrote:“Before traveling to Puerto Rico this group of individuals had never trained or played together and tonight they finally played like a team for the first time. Considering the age of these kids this tournament will certainly provide a positive and lasting experience that they will draw on for years to come,” said USA Head Coach Brett Ormsby.

Didn't they train together at the end of May and again in June??? I do realize a few of them may have been up with the youth training group, but the majority would have been with the Cadet training group.

Yes, it was a poor choice of words by saying that the group had never practice nor play together, but reality is that the team may have never played at these age level before! All in all the team played very well considered age and experience. The team was our Cadet team vs Youth.!!

That was a typical "American" response, find a reason why the team struggle or lost some games,
Really?
The teams played extremely well, yes, not much international experience, but both teams, just in case you missed it, won SILVER, players and coaches were great, teams gained lots of experience and conducted themselves with grace.
It was a great tournament for our teams.
It was a showcase of talented players playing at an older aged tournament, playing very good polo and representing the country.
Talk to our players, coaches, parents, team staff and or referees to find out the ambiance at the pool, how fans and teams supported each other, you had to be there, chanting, horns blasting, singing, drums, throughout the entired game, it was a great experience for our team, parents and team staff.

Both the girls and boys team competed with heart and class. With regards to the teams playing together, I can only speak for the boys. While it did not affect my son as much as the goalie brought from the YNT, the field had a mix of YNT and CNT players that had not practiced or played together as a team until the day before leaving for Puerto Rico. Their lack of knowledge and comfort playing together showed in the early games, especially on the 6-5 advantage. But they improved as the week went on and showed incredible determination under a couple of high stress "must win" games. I know the gold was the goal, but I am very proud of all the players effort in winning the silver while gaining some terrific international experience. Thanks to USA Water Polo and the coaching staff!

Steve
