I bet we'll find out soon. Of the 11 teams scheduled to compete in the SDSU/Aztec Invitational this weekend, 7 of them are flying...

Bucknell
George Washington
Harvard
Hawai’i
Princeton
Villanova
Wagner

re safety, teams were not shaking hands at the Harvard Invite last weekend.
It is not just the shaking hands at the end. What about the guarding with your face in the other teams faces, hands around the face area? Just wondering. I have know kids to get strep from other players.

As of now, games are still on for the SCIAC but all of the 5 Cs (so Pomona-Pitzer and CMS) have put in place a policy in which only those who have Claremont IDs are allowed to attend any athletic events (so no parents) until further notice.

Talk about a home field advantage

I wonder if so many schools (48 colleges as of now) have decided to close and go to online only, what do we think is going to happen to this water polo season? Will it go on as normal? Will games be postponed or cancelled? (which has already happened) And if so, will there be a championship tournament? Again, this does not seem too far fetched given all the media we are being slammed with. I believe kids safety is the most important thing but is this really what it has come to?

Explain how these recognition could be handed out when the season was not even halfway completed. If the teams played against their own conferences they only played one game at best in conference. If someone wants to put together these list then they should be looking at the teams they played against, IE playing against weaker teams just to boost your record and make your players look good is not right for the teams that played higher quality teams. Sorry to sound so mean but it is the truth. Or explain to me how the list was complied and by whom and who voted on the lists.

The All-American awards are given out by the ACWPC. They have been in charge of them for the last 15 years or so. Obviously, they chose the players based on the body of work to date in this shortened season. Looks to me like they did a pretty good job on the 1-3 teams. The Honorable Mentions are always a catch-all.

The Coaches nominate their players in a ranked order...the best player listed first for each team. They do the same for Goalies. The nominations are done by Division (i.e. 1,2 or 3). Coaches are allowed to include a brief description of the player:

Jane Doe, # 2 attacker led team in Goals (44) Assists (50) and field blocks (14) named 1st team all conference

Some descriptions are longer, some just include the name and school. In some cases the SID does the write up.

Voting coaches then rank the 21 best field players from 1 to 21. Those ranked 1-7 make the first team, 8-14 make the second team and 15-21 make the third team. Coaches may not vote for their own players. Any player who receives at least three votes are placed on the Honorable mention list.
There are no write in votes.

The same process is followed for goalies.

In a "normal" season, the nominations happen after the conference tournaments but prior to the NCAA tournament and the final ballots are due during the week following the NCAA tournament.

Re: 2020 - WATER POLO/SPORTS THREATEN AS COLLEGES GO OUT OF BUSINESS & GAP YEAR FOR STUDENTS

Postby CapeFear » Fri May 29, 2020 10:50 am

Corona Impact on Colleges in America in 2020 and beyond

Projection ( like retailers) 20-40% of Colleges face going out of business.[/b]

NYU Professor (CAL & UCLA Grad, was on Board of HAAS Bus Sch) Scott Galloway World renown Digital Marketing expert, founder of multiple companies, billion dollar hedge funds, etc. Makes the argument as well as stating 25% of college students could take "GAP YEAR" in 2020-2021

Scott is spot on of what's happened to US Universities, luxury brands with Status Quo Professors and administrators stifling creativity, innovation, new thought with no opportunities for PhD's since the seventies. Most tenured Professors are over 60 with retirement not of interest or an option.- Why? You can be a tenured Professor at UCI and own a $150k home in University housing for life, while your neighbors are paying $2 million in Turtle Rock and high property taxes. Same story at other UC's.

Are US Colleges worth the cost?

Many International Students won't return to U.S. or can't, another financial blow to Universities.

2nd and 3rd Tier Colleges hit the hardest
