Re: The remaining 2020 season?

It hurts a lot of coaches, and high school seniors. Think about the impact on recruiting. Plenty of kids who were planning to visit campuses over spring break. Many will be making college decisions without having the chance to visit, meet the team, etc. Yes, but there's a lesson here for everyone: ...

Re: 2019-20 CIF SS Division 5 Season

Absolutely Correct. Costa Mesa was caught in the first time jitters Padilla was a through leader and ANDERSON got caught in foul trouble early. CM seniors didn’t play well, but the Best team in the water was California. Also a lot of one sided calls w 3 Penalties against CM to no calls on the CM te...

Re: 2019-20 CIF SS Division 3 Season

King wins Rosary 11-9. Looks like King will be the divison 3 champions. I really do not see any team in that division beating them. They are very deep, play great team play. Rosary does not have the firepower to do it, as they only have 2 girls to stop ,compare to MLK a full team. Great job getting...

Re: 2019-20 CIF SS Division 4 Season

CIF should rethink a number of things, IMO - but when the concept is to 'treat all sports the same way' you are going to have great disparity in the outcomes of their processes across various sports. Coming solidly from 40+ years in the private sector and now dealing with public sector processes/me...

Re: Walk on for Navy or Manager

As far as I remember, participation in activities outside of classwork are mandated at Naval Academy. Your best bet would be to contact the coach. If you can hang in pre-season workouts, you will probably be on the roster. Playing time would be a separate issue.

Re: New Rules

Inbetween 18U Futures games last weekend, a ref was asked if we were "playing with the new rules" and the ref responded that he was not sure. In the very next game a goal was scored from a direct shot/corner throw and it counted without any questioning. So here a player was trying to find...

Re: 2019-20 CIF SS Division 1 and 2 Season

I'm sure at some point, the coach could have told that player to not score anymore. Or tell her to play goalie or something : ) However it's the nature of the beast, with some of these strong teams having to play the teams in their own league, and those schools simply not having good programs, thus...

Re: Growing the Sport

Arizona could be another next frontier due to its close proximity to California, weather and pool situation. There are large pools springing up all over the Valley. The just need some pioneers like they have had in Texas. I believe Colorado finally started up a high school club league. I think that...

Re: Growing the Sport

The Texas HS water polo situation is huge being sanctioned as a HS sport. USA Water Polo is doing a really good job of providing opportunities for tournaments in Texas and other areas -- the ODP regional championship tournaments being held in North Carolina and a new one in Utah are going to offer ...

Goalie is the only position where that can happen, given the state of the game right now. That's backed-up with more evidence, ie: Betsey Armstrong.

Re: CIF suggestions for next year

Oldtimer I agree with your thoughts and have a few variations: Point 1; I to think the refs should report scores. With this age of technology, refs should supplied with devices to link them into the CIF SS reporting system to report scores and incidents, etc at the game and conclusion of the game. ...

Re: NCAA at large bids

No matter who was selected - someone would have been upset. In this case, UCLA and UCSB are upset they were not selected. GCC was considered the strongest conference. MPSF was lower due to PSB and Austin College. I think UCLA has a decent case for being upset. UCSB collapsed the second half of the ...

Re: 2019 Men’s Season

Just as I thought..."much ado about nothing". Pepperdine was clearly in control of this game when the incident took place. You could clearly see (imo) SB's emotional frustration starting to get the better of them prior to the emotional boil-over. I see no fault by the referee's here. UCSB...

Re: CIFSS - D7 Playoffs Thread

Final- Rancho Mirage over Ontario by 9 Semis- Rancho over Arroyo Valley by 12 Ontario over Moreno Valley by 1 Only 9 teams qualified for the playoffs (should probably have allowed under .500 auto qualifiers) so there’s not going to be too many surprises. Rancho Mirage has thumped a lot of teams thi...
