Re: MPSF Invitational

I'd add that there are schools for whom outreach to new immigrants and/or bringing foreign students to the US are part of their mission. Not sure about the California scene, but here in the east St. Francis is definitely in that category. All but a few of their players are from overseas--and it's be...

Re: Tokyo Olympics

Ok so the women are the 2nd most dominant team in sports in the 21st century. Still something worth promoting. The thing is ESPN doesnt make the documentaries on their channel. Film makers make documentaries and distribute them to the various outlets…espn, netflix, history channell, etc, in an effo...

Re: 2021 Season

Re: Lance Armstrong and similar situations, I actually think leaving them in the history books with an asterisk and "won by cheating" permanenty attached is the best approach.

Re: Competing interests? USAWP Foundation and USAWP, Inc

There are old threads about this, some of which got nasty. I seem to recall that an audit of USAWP's finances raised questions about how the Foundation was run and whether it should be considered part of USAWP's finances. Something might not have been quite right, but whether the problems were with ...

Re: 2021 Season

Going in to 21 season who is the best (top 3) 1-3 descending Goalie: 1. 2. 3. Attacker+Shooter(not just driver): 1. 2. 3. Center 1. 2. 3. Center Defender 1. 2. 3. Top Cutino Candidates for this year 1. 2. 3. This is a bit redundant. If you really want to know, go check out the 2021 College Draft th...

Re: 2021 Season

Federal financial aid isn’t (much) available for international students, but most colleges (and virtually all elite universities) provide need-based aid to everyone who qualifies, including but not limited to international students. The average international student who qualifies for financial aid ...

Re: Toyko Olympics

Forget Canada for the pickup hockey comparison, California (where polo is played the most) has more adult hockey leagues than they do waterpolo. We have all these pools that barely get used while hockey rinks are utilized almost 24 hours a day. This is exactly right. Most California pools are eithe...

Re: Lifeguard requirements

Don't know about practices, but college club tournaments I referee in New England all have extremely bored lifeguards, sometimes one, sometimes two.

I do not remember guards at polo tournaments or swim meets or practices when I was a student in the 80's. Times have changed a lot since then.

Re: Toyko Olympics

PS. I'm loving the referees wearing gray pants and a blue shirt. Who in hell decided water polo referees had to dress like the sailors in dress whites? NCAA, USAWP--please take note. I would like to be able to step off the pool deck without changing and not have the general public laugh at my outfit...

Re: Toyko Olympics

ephpolo, Yes, he did.... sort of :) It was just a matter of confusing Montenegro with Croatia, if you read the original post carefully. Anyway, we beat Montenegro in London. It will be great if we beat Croatia in Tokyo. P.S. Mandic played a fantastic defence, especially in the last quarter in addit...

Re: Toyko Olympics

Playing in 5th place game is a huge step up from the last 12 or so years. Nice win but but how you can predict with certainty the outcome of the 5th place game surprises me :) In other words, why you are so sure that we will beat Croatia? I don't think he did. 6th would be big improvement, too. I t...

Re: Toyko Olympics

Nice job by the men against Italy. Familiar pattern. Up 5-3 at the half. Wheels started to come off in the 3rd and Italy tied it up. Bowen, Woodhead and Irving all in foul trouble. (All three got their third in the 4th.) Things were getting chippy and the usual signs of frustration were staring to s...

Re: Toyko Olympics

I have to agree with you about the goalie situation.. I know they both have had some good moments but every replay I swear, I see eyes closed/looking away / swinging at the ball. Both are nearing there mid/late 20s and I just think it’s too late for either of them to become a top notch goalie that ...

Re: Toyko Olympics

My brain tells me we likely see Serbia in the final, but my heart wants a Spain-Greece or Spain-Hungary gold medal game. What Serbia does sure works, but it's not much fun to watch most of the time.

Re: Toyko Olympics

So the two semi-finals are both rematches of round 1 games in the brackets: Greece-Hungary and Serbia-Spain. Both were decided by one goal in the prelims, so they both ought to be good games. Spain has looked the best of these teams, but Serbia is Serbia and always dangerous, and Greece and Hungary ...
