Re: Coaching Carousel

With Benson as the head coach, ASU would be in the NCAA semifinals or finals within four years Genuine question - why do you think this? What advantage does ASU have over say a UCI? Klatt is an excellent coach, an Olympian, and Nat'l team assistant and he hasn't been able to accomplish this; in par...

Re: Coaching Carousel

As our colleague, retiredguy, noted in another thread on this website, Natalie Benson should be at the top of the list for every college that needs a new head coach. If she is willing to leave Fresno State for the ASU position, ASU should jump at the chance. With Benson as the head coach, ASU would...

Re: 2022 NCAA Women's Championship

I am watching the UCI v UCLA game...I dont know what others who watched the game think but I can't imagine the players or coaches were anticipating this officiating. I'm not saying all the calls are wrong, but it seems to be a different standard than the regular season. I wanted to see the players ...

Re: 2022 NCAA Women's Championship

Here are my predictions for the NCAA tournament: Wagner easily beats Salem in the play-in game Stanford beats Wagner by more than 10 goals UCLA beats U.C. Irvine by 1 or 2 goals USC beats Fresno State by 8 goals Cal beats Michigan by 2 or 3 goals Stanford beats UCLA by 2 goals USC beats Cal by 1 go...

Re: 2022 NCAA Women's Championship

I agree with this list but I still hate to see ASU get screwed like they did - especially when they were playing their best polo against top teams at the end of the season. We just will never know. You have got to be kidding with ASU. I would have like to have seen them play Cal in the MPSF Tournam...

Re: 2022 NCAA Women's Championship

If the seedings from previous years are any indication, I predict the seeding for this year's NCAA tournament will be: 1. Stanford 2. USC 3. UCLA (beat UCI by 6, beat Michigan twice, beat Hawaii, split two games with Cal, split two games with USC, lost to Stanford three times) 4. Cal (beat Michigan...

Re: 2022 Season

Arizona State was "forced" to withdraw from the MPSF tournament. The Cal Twitter feed didn't say why, but it's probably safe to assume the withdrawal is related to COVID-19. Cal advances to the semifinals. The ASU twitter and website describes the withdrawal as COVID related. Whether or n...

Re: Predictions for 2022

I get that many people think there are too many foreigners in college water polo, and therefore too few opportunities for talented but not elite US high school players to move on to college water polo. Is there any evidence that this problem is worse in water polo than in other sports? What are the...

USC vs ASU

That was a competitive game. If ASU controlled a couple of rebounds, and made a one or two goals that hit posts...it's a totally different result...it was that close in my opinion. Couple that with the overtime loss vs UCLA and it's easy to believe that ASU is trending and might have a chance to do ...

Re: what is going on with UCSB water polo?

First Off, I have no skin in the game regarding UCSB and I'm late to the party but I do have a few questions. And these are questions not vailed reasons for the departures. Just trying to get a more informed idea of what is going on there. After looking at the current UCSB roster there are 24 field...

Re: ASU Coaching Changes?

The former coaches were only removed last Friday. So yes, Petra Padri is the current Interim Coach. This information is coming directly from 2 of the players on the current team. Does anyone know why they were removed? Was this a program performance issue, clash with the AD or wrong doing of some s...

Re: ASU Coaching Changes?

Rumors have it he's gone after accusations by people who may or may not be named ever. Probably COVID related huh? Everything else is. Did he get a fair hearing? Short of a crime where's the investigative process? Toss the constitution out the door as more and more institutions are doing, especiall...

ASU Coaching Changes?

Hi All ... The ASU website lists Petra Pardi as the interim head coach. It no longer lists Todd Clapper or his other assistant Stefanos Leandros. https://thesundevils.com/sports/womens-water-polo/coaches Is there something to this observation or just a website goof up? There surely is a knowing pers...
