Re: Opportunities missed
Opportunities Whistling away By R.Hosch Whistle. Turn 'roun! Whistle. Whistle. Man down! What were those three whistles for? What happened? A five meter score!? Why wasn't there a whistle? Why aren't the rules an unchanging Epistle? Angry players arguing about the whistle Driving and being held is ...

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
The reality is that there are some advantages of being of smaller stature. The time it takes to transition and change directions in the pool is much quicker the smaller one is, and the level of CO2 build-up in the muscles of bigger players compared to their smaller counter parts. The Japanese system...

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
True. But the player for San Jose State DID have a professional contract in 2013 with Honved. As for the Concordia player, I can only imagine what he and the other players Coach Dettamanti initially recruited for San Jose State could have done together under his tutelage. Going back to the purpose o...

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
And for what it's worth, Honved has not been so good in the last ten years or so because college teams, ironic for this discussion, like San Jose State took some of their players - even who were on Honved's professional team. I don't know why Watson would risk penalties from the NCAA, but I guess on...

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
That "smallish" player you refer to was not taken on by Watson, and a whole backstory exists of why he eventually was taken on.... and eventually quit.

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
I think Watson has learned from what had to be a humbling experience, being beat by the kids who he deemed to small to compete. He has since recruited more for talent than size. Good for him and San Jose. Now they are a better team. As for the losses look at the first two years Watson was the coach....

Re: Coach D on the Japanese National Team
San Jose State could have had a water polo team much like the Japanese team. He helped recruit several "out of the box" (under 6 feet tall) for San Jose State. These boys went there on recruiting trips and were completely ignored by the new coach. They were ignored and I even read an e-mai...

Re: FINA begins dialog about changing the course of water polo
It would help to know what the roster size is aiming to be. If the min number of players on the roster is 9 my team and strategy would look a bit different from a roster of 24.

Re: FINA begins dialog about changing the course of water polo
I am very excited for these new rule changes. I am curious as to when it will filter down to the NCAA. Have the new FINA rules stipulated roster sizes?

Re: 50 Free World Record
American coaches are lazy and want three specific cheats to get a winning team: height, speed and borrowed Euro's. One can't blame them. Height is intimidating and against truly terrible opponents- the height factor will intimidate! The desire coaches have for speed and swim endurance might be helpf...

Re: 50 Free World Record
Let's put all of the world class sprinters and cross country runners on the basketball court. According to some logic here, they would dominate the sport of basketball because of their running speed and conditioning.

Re: Rhodes transfers from Stanford to USC
The most passionate arguments are the ones where both sides have a valid point. In my opinion about this I don't care how Universities get the money to bring in foreigners. It is to the extent that is relied on throughout all levels; division 1, 2 and 3 . One cannot argue that the discontent from ma...

Re: Foreigners--Again . . . . .
Great and valid points! I believe there are some other things to consider. Foreign players are not just a main component of Div. 1 water polo but also are throughout the division 2 and division three and even the Junior college teams, now - even high school teams are using exchange students to bolst...
