Re: pepperdine

I have no dog in this fight. Though I would think there should be some general concern that Pepperdine WP might be at risk of disbandment. If this were to happen, beyond the effect upon the program, coaches and athletes and the sport in general, the new/rumored men's GC Conference would no longer ha...

FINA/USAWP will look at updating the rules after the 2016 Olympics. No predicting what may transpire.

Re: 2015 NCAA Water Polo Championship Brackets

Perhaps you are not aware - since the inception of the play-in games, there was discussion that the first round teams were receiving 2nd class treatment as they were not flown out to the official tournament site. In other words, the feeling was that the teams made it into the NCAA tournament but the...

Re: MPSF

I believe there is a tournament roster limit of 18.

And while the MPSF has typically been awarded the NCAA at-large bids, there are no guarantees for any conference.

Re: You Make The Call! #11

Without having the angle of the attack referee, this conversation is difficult to start with. The point made about what was happening before the move, is a good one BTW. From the camera angle, it certainly looks like the attacker used the defender's body to gain an advantage and then gain space. But...

Re: What is the Foul?

Let's not get too sensitive on all this stuff. The opinion that a training opportunity exists is not demeaning or insulting. Whether the official looked away or was looking right at it, a mistake was made in not calling the interfering on the direct shot. And no one has insight as to whether the mis...

Re: NorCal Top 10 2015

OK - stating the obvious...I'm old :D Back in the 70's we had the NCI (NorCal Invitational). The tournament took place on the weekend after all of the NorCal sections had finished their championships. Don't know why the tournament went away. Of course now you have section all-star games...followed b...

Re: How is this possible?

I can't explain what happened as far as the apparent mix up, etc. However the rule book states that a team may not call a timeout unless they are in possession of the ball. If a team calls for a timeout without possession, they are charged with a Penalty Foul and they lose a timeout if they have one...

Re: Reporting poor officiating

Parents may want to consider taking a cue from their child's coach. If he/she is not going to make a big deal out of it, then neither should you. Same goes for calls during a game. And before starting your letter campaign to the AD, it would behoove you to talk to your coach first...who may not want...

Re: UOP defeats USC 8-7

Exclusions can be called on defense or offense. Typically a contra foul and exclusion comes from an over-aggressive play or some level of misconduct. An example would be a counter attack and the player on the attack grabs his defender around the head or neck in an attempt to get by the opponent. Or ...

Re: North South Challenge

re Drake question: If you are familiar with how HS scheduling works, then you would know that non-league tournaments and/or games are scheduled/invitations in early spring. And most of the premier tournaments work off of the past season results and some sort of analysis of what the team looks like f...

Re: how does this happen?

Secondly, referees are not required to to respond to either coaches or players questions. They may do so if they wish. I agree that you are technically correct. But my opinion still stands that in the interest of fair play, it was highly unprofessional. And this is one of the reasons why some peopl...
