Re: Male Players Wanted: Wellington, New Zealand

Will they take players in their fifties? I can still play like a young man in his forties... ;-). Got a couple of old HS buddies in NZ - would love to be able to move there when I retire.

Re: National team selection process

ODP is a big money maker. Not a single athlete is rejected from the ODP system. For the record - I don't think it is a bad thing for ODP to be a fund raising event for USAWP, particularly if the money is used for helping the National Team. Based upon what I have read, the $700 pays for the 32 hours...

Re: National team selection process

I now understand your anonymity since you seem to live on the big rock candy mountain where everything is free. Alan I like very much the maturity level of those who think their arguments are stronger when they make derogatory statements about others simply because they don't like the question. Tha...

Re: National team selection process

Just thinking out loud - if the point of a National Team is to field the best players, what does it matter who they trained with? From what I understand, ODP has 6 'training sessions' per year and two tournaments. In the meantime, the better club players are training 4 to 6 days a week and playing i...

National team selection process

In the "Job Search" section, a post indicating an opening for an ODP coach was recently made. One sentence caught my eye in the listing: "The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is the pipeline from which all USA National Team members (Senior, Junior, Cadet and Development) are selected...

Re: Ordinary fouls in set

This is a great thread, from my perspective. Based upon what I learned at the 'Minor Fouls' WPA course, what Allen said makes a lot of sense. The primary consideration for calling the foul, from my recollection are: 1) A minor foul is a foul of possession. 2) A foul is called to restore what was tak...

Re: Ordinary fouls in set

Well, call me foolish, but I think ordinary fouls in set open up some interesting offensive possibilities. Reminds me of the 'good old days' back in the early '70s... ;-).

Ordinary fouls in set

Out in the wild, wild IE I've noticed that officials are calling a lot of ordinary fouls in set. I think this is a departure from previous years, no? Are the OC and SD referees calling these as well, or is this an IE thing? I haven't been counting, but my impression is that at least half of the foul...

Re: Feedback: More Water Polo on TV

My family would watch - however, something to consider is that there are many who don't have cable/satellite TV (which we do not). I say this because Blockbuster now offers Dish, and they hit you up every time you go in to rent a movie. The last time I went in I told the guy I don't have cable and d...
