Olympics in Winter

Does anybody think it would be good for our sport to have Water Polo played during the Winter Olympics? I think we might get more of an opportunity on TV.

They already play water polo during the Winter Olympics. They freeze the water and call it ice hockey!

So many water polo teams train indoors, year-round already...doesn't seem like a such a big deal. During the Winter Olympics we end up watching curling....? really. Sweeping the ice in front of a sliding super puck. Isn't water polo more entertaining than that? How many team sports in the summer games vs the winter games? Anyone have that number?

There are a total of 49 recognized summer sports, of which a few like: croquet, roque, jeu de palme, tug of war and art were dropped over time. London 2012 will feature 26 sports in 39 competitive events. There are 16 recognized winter sports of which two were dropped, but one of them, the skeleton, was reinstated. Over the past four editions of the Games, while most of the sports' ratings remained fairly constant, women's beach volleyball ratings apparently increased 16-fold. That's 1600%! But while the mainstream perception of water polo puts it squarely among curling, fencing and badminton, it will be pretty hard to compete against tall "chicks" sporting bikinis out of the water... The usual disclaimers apply: no offense, either direct or implied against the fine practitioners of the sports of beach volleyball, curling, fencing or badminton, is contained in the previous statement.

But that's not the real concern; imagine if the IOC decided to recognize something like freestyle canoeing as a competitive sport... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSldR9yOJq8&feature=related ...water polo would indeed be finished. (Sorry for the 3:57 minutes )
