I gotta think Gabriel Martinez is the front runner.

That would make a lot of sense. He has built and maintained a great program at Fullerton City College and I'm sure CSUF can pay him more than Fullerton College, and he could use some of his graduating players to transfer over the CSUF to start his build there.

I wonder what exactly happened at Commerce WP where apparently he was asked to resign/retire by the city of Commerce Council

I think they would go with a younger coach to build that program from scratch. Somebody with credibility in Orange County. Somebody that has done everything he needed to do in High School, boys and girls and would not even need to uproot his family. How about Ross Sinclair, switching to coaching men and women now?

Or how about Steve Carrera? I'm sure he misses Orange County water polo and starting programs from the ground up is what he does, except here, he would get a brand new pool deck to top it off.

How about CSUF hire Wolf Wigo so UCSB can get a good coach.

But if we give it some serious thought, the only Big West program that has the same head coach is UCI and that was a recent development. At Long Beach you have Gavin and Shana, UCSD is Usha and Kreutzkamp, UCSB Wolf and Serela, Davis is Leyson and Wright.

It might be more cost effective to have one coach for both programs, so there is no way you're gong to have a Division I coach who only coaches one sport to move to 2 without some sort of incentive. Fullerton is also known for having a high number of degree recipients who are women and/or of minority background so I think if there's a candidate who fits either or both of those demographics that would be a win for the university as far as women's water polo is concerned. But I don't work in higher ed administration so who is to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Davis lost a great one. Those are some huge shoes to fill. His name has been synonymous with the UC Davis women’s program since it’s inception.

Everyone knows that Candace Waldthaler the Ass't Coach at Davis will take over as Head coach. Which is a good thing.

Jamey is such a good coach, leader, and person. Fortunately Kandace will step in with the same values and qualities.

Agreed, great coach and great communicator with his players. I sat near their bench once at CDM, ( totally by random), and they lost in a very close game. This was a couple years back at the UCI tournament, and just hearing how he communicated with his players during the time outs and even after the loss, gave me lots of respect for the man.

You need to wonder why he retired right before one of his Assistant Coaches was arrested for Child Porn. Then lets add you need wonder if his legacy will turn out just like Paterno from Penn State. Same charges.

Since you chose to post your (identical) nonsense on two different threads I will just duplicate my answer here.

"Really ?

Are you trying to insinuate that Jamie saw Noble watching child pornography and said nothing? So stupid, sorry for the choice of words.
Wright's retirement was more or less an open secret afaik. Even the ESPN commentator mentioned it as a rumor during WWPA championship games in Hawaii in April. You can find the WWPA quarterfinal UCD vs UCSD game on YouTube- it was stated on the air."

Unless there were some troubling signs that coaches chose not to notice what does it have to do with Jamie? I mean if say my PhD student had been arrested for watching and uploading child pornography and that PhD student had not shown any deviant behavior, have not harassed anybody, etc, how would it have been my responsibility?

I am sure that the coaches are devastated. But was else could have been done? Administering a polygraph test monthly on whether an assistant watched child porn?

Prospective student athletes need to do this. They should go to games and observe everything they can about the coach, team etc. Often it can be very revealing as to the culture and character of the team - and in this case revealing in a very positive way! It can be really affirming to the athlete or make them ask more questions and go deeper...
