Ohana WPA expanding coaching staff

Ohana Water Polo Academy, based in north Orange County, is looking to expand its coaching staff.

Coach will report to the Ohana Director of Coaching and will primarily be accountable for the development of age group athletes (both novice and beginning competitive). Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
— Working with the coaching staff under the direction of the Coaching Director to develop practice plans/goals as well as recruitment and retention strategies that fosters a long term development platform for positive transitions from one age group to the next for our athletes
— Embracing Ohana Water Polo Academy’s mission of developing well rounded water polo athletes both in and out of the pool
Performing administrative duties related to running of the age group or team
— Scheduling regular meetings with athletes and parents in advance of upcoming team events, etc.
— Attending coaching development meetings and actively participate in interclub meetings and trainings as needed
— Maintaining valid USAWP coach membership and related certifications at all times (including CPR/First Aid, Safe Sport, etc.)

This coaching position is suitable for someone who wishes to share their water polo knowledge, grow as a coach and maintain long-term involvement with water polo. Collegiate playing experience a plus. Specific desired skills/experience include:
— Previous coaching experience is a strong plus
— Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with various audiences (athletes, parents, other coaches, refs)
— Ability to work with various age groups and mentor athletes as a positive role model
— Exceptional organizational skills
— Strong commitment to developing athletes
— Flexibility (as needed)

Ohana Water Polo Academy practices are currently held Monday – Thursday (and will expand to include Fridays for HS age groups in the spring) from approximately 6:30-8:00 or 9:00, depending on the age group.
