Re: Pacific Zone JO Quals Schedules
Thanks for providing this. Had been waiting for it. In general it looks good, especially the older girls. In those groups the cross over games are at the discrimination point. Ideally the position that makes the difference between championship and classic or JO and no allocation should have the greatest opportunity for teams to cross into a final position bracket that allows them to play for an allocation. Since all teams in these groups will qualify this year, that discrimination point should be between championship and classic seeds. Both for teams and the tournament the correct outcome and seeding should be the goal.
For 16 u there are 11 championship allocations and cross over is in 7-18 positions. Here it is less important to differentiate between the 6 and 7 seeds than it is between the 11 and 12 seed. The 18u hits that spot as well with a 5-12 cross over and 9 championship allocations.
The 14 u missed that spot with cross over in 5-12 and 13 championship seeds. Would be nice to give a couple of the lower group the chance to get to the championship on day 2, but one team is able to play their way in.
Overall to me the bracket designs I looked at are really a step up from previous years’ brackets. Much more cross games on day 2 rather than having a fate sealed on day 1. Much more interesting for teams and more opportunities to change their fate and to get the right teams to the right divisions.

Great to see that you have 24 teams in Pacific region for 16U Girls. Apparently we only have 9 16U girls teams in Sopac quals this year, but I have not found the schedules yet, so this is just hearsay for now.

ON the 16U and 18U girls side, do you know if Diablo, Standford and Lamo are coming to the USCCs this weekend in Riverside ?
I can't find the schedules and seedings

Thank you. Much appreciated.
These seedings must have been done before the completion of the Pacific region, olders JO Quals, because Diablo is seeded 10th in both the girls 18U and 16 U at the USCCs and at the JO Quals, they were in the finals in both divisions, actually winning the 16U division. Or the USCCs must use their own seeding formula?

The seeding for USCCs is normally based on the results of the Cal Cup State Finals.

But a lot of these teams were not even in the Cal Cup finals, so you would think they would use every available results they can get their hands on

That would make sense, but I think it’s just CCSF results.
