Yea...thanks for the compliment...but then again...I highly doubt you are pegging me as a "glass half-full" type guy on the International level. But hey, good luck on your International endeavors.

I'll be optimistic. Great draw for the US women. I confidently predict they make the semifinals and have a good chance to play in the championship game.
As for the men, nowhere to go but up. 2021 was a better performance than 2016. No shame in losing that quarter final game to Spain, who may have been the best team in the tournament.

USA men are consistently looking to go up on the "Europeans"..right?. I laugh. But hey, there is always "hope"...for sure.

Hopefully they will figure out streaming for tomorrow. Would like to see how they look against Serbia - may be all one needs to see for a top 8 finish vs bottom 8 finish.

Good game played by the U.S but they simply couldn’t handle the physicality of the Serbs in the final quarter. As usual Bowen is a beast. Does this loss mean they have no chance to advance to quarters?
Also, anybody else see that no-call punch to the face to Hallock in the beginning of the 4th?

Serbia is at the very first steps of the rebuilding phase.
You could see Savic was pretty unhappy with their defensive efforts.
A valuable experience for #2. Maybe it was not such a bad idea to take him to Budapest. Doube is getting better and better. Bowen and Hallock are big pluses for US, obviously.

I have to admit Dodd looked pretty good out there. He’s probably a little more skilled on offense than Tommy and I’d say they are pretty equal on defense. I have a new favorite for Abramson’s replacement but I’ll wait for the tournament is over before I stick my neck out.

Oh... and parent.
Re: 2022 World Championships
They were down by 1 most of the game, which is not bad.
I admit to being pleasantly surprised even though they ultimately lost by 4

I agree that Dodd pleasantly surprised on the upside. I have to think that he will be a cog in the MSNT for a while.

Yea, I mean better to be close than blown out, for sure. But the defense has to be way more consistent. Field blocking needs to be better. I thought Holland was solid, especially in the 2nd and 3rd. Gotta help him with better field blocking. Credit to Serbia’s shooters, though. They made it look easy.
Serbia has at least 6 new players and needed their coach to light a fire under them midway through the game. They’re only going to get better. But Hallock dominated. We need another top level shooter or two (Abramson? Cupido?) and better field blocking. I guess all that to say I’m not overly optimistic or pessimistic. It’s early.

I think Serbs had seven players who did not play in Tokyo: Dobozanov, Subotic, Vico, Lukic, Radulovic, Drasovic, and Victor Rasovic.
It is interesting to note that all but Radulovic are at least 24. Vico is 27. Subotic and Dobozanov are 26. V. Rasovic is 28. He won European gold in 2018 and bronze at the World Championship in 2017 so he is not a true new player for the national team, It will take some time for the new pieces to fit in.
Re: 2022 World Championships
Serbia 6 Australia 5. A good game. Nic Porter played well. Also, Serbs did not shoot that well. USA vs Australia should be an interesting game on Saturday.
