Great Weinberg save on a quarter-ending 6-5 for Hungary. 11-11 at end of regulation. Shoot outs suck. This game should be decided with an OT.

It is funny that Hungarians lost their composure at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters in front of a home crowd.
A well deserved win!

Agreed! Sucks that it ends on penalties, but at least it went our way.
Great goalkeeping by Weinberg

Solid win for the men. I completely agree that shootouts are a horrible way to end the game. Not sure what’s wrong with the two 3-minute OT periods followed by sudden death method.

One feels sorry for Hungarians. Finished first in group but had two close losses to Italy and USA and are now relegated to the 7th place game instead of a medal round. The home crowd will not take it lightly. Also, could it be the end of Denes' international career? He is 35. A fantastic player.

Hope they flip the results on Serbia from the group round. But what a great team game against Hungary - you put yourself in good position when you hold to under 10 goals, and they were close.

This USA team plays better at a younger average age than the 2008 USA team. They play with a lot of confidence, trust, and toughness. Their best players play selflessly. Don’t need Cupido or Hooper. Their role players step up in significant ways.

Dejan Udovicic should get a lot of credit.

Why do you think so? They are fifth-sixth best in the world. It is not bad, sure. But they are not a top two team by any measure, right?

The 2008 was not a top-2 team either. Circumstances allowed for a good team to win the silver medal.

Lovely. OK. The circumstances were: they played well and finished with the silver medal. In the process, they beat Italy, Croatia, Germany, and China in the group play, only losing to the tournament's favorite Serbia 2:4, then avenged that loss in a semifinal 10:5, and lost to Hungary in the final.

To decide the gold medals in a shootout is idiotic, imho but nothing is new here. Spain lost last European finals in a shootout in 2020 if I remember correctly. Spain deserved gold this time. The team will be absolutely scary in Paris. Their goalie is superb and is just 21. Speaking of goalies, Serbian backup could dethrone B.Mitrovic by 2024. Weinberg needs more intl experience. I remember Holland's performance several years ago- he has improved significantly since then.

On a positive note, Bowen has been the most prolific goal scorer of this championship.
