Yeah, Serbia was off on their shooting game but AUS holding them to 6 goals is very impressive and shows that Australia may be better on the defensive side than the US right now. Porter had an amazing game (stuffing Mandic multiple times) and I’d probably put him up there with the top international goalies right now. We’re going to need another good offensive game if we’re going to beat them on Saturday. If the US can somehow avoid a match up with Spain or Greece in the quarters than they might actually have a good chance of advancing.

US 14 AUS 9. Irving with 4 and Hallock with 3.

Australia really struggled with their shooting.

The US was 7/8 on 6v5s and 3/3 on penalty shots.

Anyone know what happened to Canada? Looks as though they’ve automatically placed last.

I'm sure everyone appreciates the excitement, but let's remember that the "big win" was against South Africa, which has been outscored 8 to 74 thus far. Greece will be an actual game.

The Japan/Montenegro game was fascinating; as others on this board have mentioned, the way the Japanese play really is almost a totally different game.

Team USA lost to Greece 16-11. Game was tied at half. Chase Dodd scored again! Looks like he will be mainstay on the National Team.

USA had a good second quarter but that was about it. BTW, Greece's #1 Zerdevas got injured at the very beginning of the second quarter and had to leave the game, so perhaps it affected the second quarter a little bit, who knows...

So yes, the score was tied 7-7 at the half but Greece scored the next five(?) goals after that and the game was effectively over. And yes, Dodd scored but shortly after that he was owned by Genidounias on the other end. Dodd could become an important part of the USMNT but time will tell. And no, six goals against South Africa do not mean much.

Pretty sure Dodd was covering Maxs guy when he shot and missed again and let Kostas counter on him. It was a great shot by Kostas far side which is usually the goalkeeper’s side on a shot from the post. Either way USA went flat in the third

Well, Genidounias is 10 years older and plays professionally. Dodd just completed his Freshman season.

Correct. And I hope very much that Dodd has a very bright future ahead of him. But somehow, you could have used a similar type of additional information when writing about Dodd's six goals against a very weak South Africa team. I mean, do you know *any* player from their roster?

In short, let us not get ahead of ourselves. The team has some very good pieces, especially Hallock and Bowen, but it is not there yet.

P.S. It will be a difficult game against host Hungary on Friday.

Not a bad first half against Hungarians. I really think Weinberg is proving to be our number 1 goalie (above Wolf and Holland). He has the height along with some of the best lateral movement I’ve seen in the cage. Reminds me a lot of Josip Pavic (star goalie from the Croatia 2012 team). He’s a Jr. in college, won an NCAA championship, and is very vocal and confident in the cage. I believe that this is one of his first starts in a big game and he’s proving he can block the shots of the best shooters in the world.

8-8 at end of third.US defense looking good. Offense is having trouble with Hallock doubled, but is managing to score on 6-5's and a quarter-ending penalty shot by Daube.
