Texas Water Polo Programs

Postby Wynnefield » Thu May 01, 2008 2:40 pm

So, whatever happened to the Austin vs. Dallas vs. Houston vs. San Antonio rivalry which continued for so many years. Is there a tournament schedule still active, or am I just getting too old and out of shape?

p.s. I couldn't stand to see the Southwest Zone be one of the only two Forum groups without any threads ... LOL

It's still there. Loren referenced it in another post somewhere else. Granted the SW Zone page doesn't have a working calendar anymore, but I can tell you the San Antonio annual tournament is on the 17-18 of May.

I appreciate your follow up John. Glad to hear the program is still continuing after so many years. Can only imagine the "old timers" still playing, or perhaps now coaching after "Water Polo Time" finally creeping up on each one of us in our own manner.

I think my dad has the right idea ... contributing in the most positive manner he sees fit without having to be concerned with what other players, coaches or referees think; or how the political aspirations of an elected (or soon to be elected) Polo Committee Official might affect his career aspirations.

Without a doubt, one of my favorite characteristics of my father was his fearless ability to be honest, rather than political.

Sadly, there's so much political stuff going on, it makes it really hard sometimes. Glad to hear you're still interested in polo...since you're in N. Texas, you should contact Frank Connor in the DFW area to get a better idea of what's going on up there. I can send you his email if you PM me.
